Empathy

The world doesn’t need saving
There’s nothing wrong with the world
It’s the human heart that is failing
That struggles to live

There are no words that can save it
No books no laws no speeches
Salvation will only come
With each of us acting alone
A simple act of mercy each
Mercy resounds.

One act of kindness each
Without recognition
A stone tossed in a lake
That ripples out
Radiates out
The act of acting out
Strengthens the heart of the one
The act of acting out inspires us all to action
And makes the human heart whole
It makes the human heart whole

A simple act of mercy each
Mercy resounds

All we need is empathy

All we need is
Is just to see is
Just to be on the other side imagine how
I could be and it could be me
All we need Is to feel and try to understand
Don’t you know now
We could save the world
All we have to do is
Feel bad.
It’s as is simple as that
We don’t wanna feel bad
But we could save the world now

All we need is empathy
Don’t you know that we could save the world
All we need is to feel and try to understand
All we have to do is to really want to
Really want to change our goals now
All we need is is just to see is to
Try to understand all we can
It’s as simple as that
We just have to want it
And we could save the world now

All we need is empathy

Homesick

Countdown to arrival time
That should be on my mind
But only
I’m lonely
I’m safely on the bus
Surrounded by those I trust
Mostly
I’m still lonely
For you

Funny after all these years
I’d still rather be there
Anywhere
As long as you’re there
I’ve got a job to do
I just have to see it through
But my heart is at home with you
I’m lonely

If I could fly
I’d fly
Home.

Countdown to departure time
You never left my mind
I was having
Such a good time
Now I’m coming home to you
Full of excitement
‘Cause I share my whole life with you
I’ll share this too.

If I could fly
I’d fly
home.

Noah’s Flood

The earth is so small the human race so vast.
We cover the land like Noah’s flood.
We fill every corner seven billion dots on a map.
We cover the land like Noah’s flood.
We may have come from God. Are we his tool or his bane
consuming every living thing like Noah’s flood?
Are we out of control or are we part of the plan?
Are we intended to purify like Noah’s flood?
If we’re part of the plan then guess who’s next on the list
Say a prayer for mankind as we cease to exist.

Well I think we’re misguided – not only man has a soul
But we fill up the world as if it’s only our home.
If a place stands empty – if no city stands there
We fill it full of garbage or use it to test weapons.
We’re trying to nullify like Noah’s flood
Remake the world for our own eyes, as if its not good enough
God-like feelings that drive us to construction
But the demon inside us with the blueprints for destruction.

Too many of us! We’re an end in itself!
We put too much value on postponing death.
If the price we pay to stay forever on the earth
is the death of the planet soon an artificial world.
I can’t live in a bubble I can’t live in a cage
Rather live one year environmentally safe
Live one month in a fresh green world
Live one day without the guilt that I’m to blame.

Because of you

In my dreams I always win
I am brave. I fit in
I have been there and here
And In the moment
And I never let go

In the world my dreams
Never came true
I was not so sure and all alone
Then I met you

I remember my dreams
Because of you
Because of you

So much to see so much to do
Seems like so little time
But all the rest of it at least
I’ll spend with you

Everyday something new
As if you turned on a light
Or gave me sight

I remember my dreams
Because of you
Because of you.

February

Every time there’s a war then we end it
Don’t know why we ever had to begin it
Its clear so clear we can’t really help it
We try and try to grow out of it

But the sun comes out today
And the sun it goes away
Then the clouds roll back again
And the sun shines out instead
We can stay in the shade or lift our heads
But the sun is still our master

We have hope we ask why
We teach our children to think
To pull back from the brink
It’s clear so clear we want to be free
We try and try and try

But then the earth it opens wide
And swallows us up inside
The wave rushes up so high
And washes away our pride
We can sink below or stand our ground
But the water is our master

But we try we try we try

Life is good!

My husband is in the army. He works in department 46271
He does something very secret far far too terrifying to divulge
I just let it be. The money is good and we are happy
I just let it be but sometimes I have to talk to myself
I say

Life is good life is fun you can’t put the blame on me
We all have to make a sacrifice
I choose to sacrifice my ability to see
what’s going on

I go to the Maple Street market. I see all the same faces on all the same days
Mrs. Smith always has the scoop. Mrs. Jones usually has a black eye
I just let it slide. Its none of my business and she would be mortified!
I let it slide but sometimes I have to talk to myself
I say

Life is good life is fun you can’t put the blame on me
We all have to make a sacrifice
I choose to sacrifice my ability to see
what’s going on

I work up high in an office. I have a great view of the Sutton Place Hotel
I was just looking in their windows. I saw a man pull a gun and blow another man away
I turned around. No way in the world am I going to report it!
I’ll just stack these files. I’ll pretend that I didn’t see it
I didn’t see it

Life is good life is fun you can’t put the blame on me
We all have to make a sacrifice
I choose to sacrifice my ability to see
what’s going on

Window

Things are looking down
Such a heavy sound your tread makes.
Try not to believe everything you feel
There’s not that much to dread.
Sometimes epiphanies come
when the day is darkest.
A kind word or a hand held out
might show up.
Just open up
And it might show up.

The hardest things to do are the things
That leave us exposed and in view.
And some of us feel we’re all alone
Even in a crowd.
So we don’t go out
And we don’t open up
And we’re afraid to begin
So we just stop.
Things will be better
This won’t last forever
Just open up – even a window.

You can get there
Get out of that darkness.
Don’t give up hope
This is just this moment.
Just open up
Even a window

Birthday

La la la la la la la la

It’s been a long time coming
Feels like a year or two
And in that whole time you really worked so hard
Raise a glass to you
Or maybe 2
La la la la la la la la
Or maybe 3
La la la la la la la la
It’s all on me

We’re gonna have a party
We’re gonna really play
We’re gonna dance till you just can’t dance no more
Forget yesterday : )

It’s your birthday!
It’s your birthday!

Party in the morning
Party in the afternoon
Party all night til the sun comes up
This party’s all for you
And for me too!
La la la la la la la la
‘Cause I’m with you
La la la la la la la la
Happy birthday to you!

It’s your birthday!
It’s your birthday!

No worries

Waiting
Time and time and time again
So sad to think that you were my best friend
All day wasting time until the fix was in
So sad all that time gone but that was then

And now
I am free
Now
I am me
Now
Days are longer
Now
I belong

No worries
No worries
No worries
I belong

Repeat

Zombies

Here we go downtown
The downtown is shut down
Got to get away
Churchyard across the street
Moon’s up above the trees
Setting sun in my face

Got to get downtown
A safe zone must be around
In the core there must be more than me
Safety!
Or maybe I’m the last one
Standing in the sun
And the sun that is setting
Is the last sun for everyone.

Coming
Steadily
Hungry
For me

Pretend i don’t know how this is gonna end
Pray for heaven to win
Hold on until then
Get downtown downtown downtown downtown

Coming
Steadily
Hungry
For me.

Zombies!

What’s life for?

What’s Life for
Is it for giving or for taking?
What’s life for
Is it for learning or is it for teaching?
What’s life for
Is it divine or just an accident?
If it means nothing
Then why are we something?

Why do we exist
And we do we know it?
Why do most of us love
If life means nothing?
Why do most of us have hope
If life just is and and then it isn’t?
What’s life for then?

What’s life for then
What’s life for then
What’s life for?

Why do we have this gift of belief
In something more?
Seems to me that there must be
Must be so much more.
Why do so many of us
Give up our lives for others?
If the imperative is just to live
Why do we give ourselves to others
To our children our fathers
our sisters and mothers
neighbours and brothers
strangers,
lovers.
What’s it for
If there’s nothing more

What’s life for then?
